Cadillac Duet

PACNY Certifications provide instructors with the skill and knowledge necessary to educate clients in both private and group settings. In addition to meeting all of the standard requirements of a superior comprehensive Pilates certification course, each of our intensive modules includes a 3 hour "Teaching Skills Workshop" designed to improve communication between instuctors and their clients. Knowledge, client education, and presentation is what sets our graduates apart from other instructors. We don't just teach you the exercises, we teach you how to teach and/or how to improve upon your current teaching skills.


COMPREHENSIVE TEACHER TRAINING (CTT)

PACNY Comprehensive Teacher Training is a 9 month Instructor Training and Certification program consisting of education in the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, & Barrel Repertoires, in addition to comprehensive anatomy and post-rehab education. The complete certification encompasses 650 hrs. of combined classroom, observation, and apprenticeship activity.

Course Fee: $4999
The course fee covers all materials, instructors and certification exams in addition to workshop auditing priveledges, unlimited class participation, and studio use for personal review. Registration for the comprehensive program requires a 50% upfront deposit, with the balance due before the first day of the course. PACNY Intensive Teacher Training (PACNY-ITT)

All ITT Anatomy ReviewCourse modules include:

  1. Anatomy/Kinesiology Review.
  2. Postural Assessment.
  3. The names and correct execution of the exercises.
  4. The names of the apparatus and all of the various parts.
  5. The appropriate sequencing of the exercises, repetitions, and the use of resistance.
  6. The appropriate set-up of the apparatus for each exercise
  7. Verbal and tactile cueing techniques for each exercise.
  8. The objectives of each exercise.
  9. How to design a client specific program.
  10. How to effectively modify, break down, and/or adapt an exercise.
  11. "Teaching Skills Workshop" .

 

SUGGESTED PREREQUISITS:
PACNY upholds high standards for all of its certified instructors. Though the following prerequisites are not required, they are highly recommended. If you do not meet these suggested prerequisites, plan extra time to study anatomy and additional hours of practical teaching before taking the written and practical exams.

  • College level anatomy
  • Personal Training/Group Fitness certification or 2 years of fitness instruction experience or healthcare degree/certification
  • Pilates experience


Exam PictureCERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Upon successful completion of coursework, participants have 6 months to log an additional 30hrs of practical experience, 15hrs of observation and 10hrs of personal review per module. Once these requisits have been met, written and practical exams may be scheduled directly with PACNY staff on an individual basis.

EXAMS:
Testing consists of a written exam and practical presentation. Two hours are allowed for completion of the 100-question written exam and 1hr for the practical portion (1.5hrs for triple-module practical exams). A combined score of 80% is required for certification. In the event a passing score is not achieved, a re-test may be sceduled as soon as 4 weeks, but not more than 4 months, after the initial exam.

$75 - Single Module (i.e. Reformer written and practical)
$125 - Double Module (i.e. Mat & Reformer written & practical)
$150 - Triple Module (i.e. Mat, Reformer & TCB written & practical)

$50 - Re-test fee
$25 - Advanced module testing ( add $25 to the total for each advanced module)

AQUALATES: Pilates Inspired Aquatics

TEACHER TRAINING CERTIFICATION

The AQUALATES® Level I Teacher Training Certification is a 20hr workshop designed to provide participants with the foundational teaching and cueing skills necessary to instruct others in this very specialized exercise method. The difference between AQUALATES® and other aquatic fitness classes is instructor knowledge, client education, and in the presentation of each exercises. We don't just teach you the exercises, we teach you how to teach and/or improve upon your current teaching skills.

AQUALATES ClassCourse instruction includes:

  1. anatomy & kinesiology review
  2. basic hydrodynamics
  3. H2O safety concerns
  4. principles of AQUALATES®
  5. level I exercises and exercise modifications
  6. teaching and cueing techniques in water and on the deck

Once the prerequisites for certification have been met, the written and practical exams may be scheduled directly with AQUALATES® International on an individual basis. The exam fee is $50.

The required instruction manual is $40, and may be purchased in advance for delivery on the first day of the workshop.

AQUALATES® Pool-to-Studio

Most AQUALATES® exercises originate from the Pilates studio and encompass exercises from all pieces of apparatus, as well as the mat. In this "Translation" workshop we will examine and discuss the biomechanical differences between strength-building exercises in the Pilates Studio and Aquatic training venues, as participants are given an opportunity to experience corresponding Pilates exercises on the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. For those with aquatic certifications other than AQUALATES®, this workshop is filled with ideas for expanding upon your current strength & tone workouts.

FEES:
$150 includes 7.5-hour lecture, workshop, and materials

Anatomy & Biomechanics Review

Review musculoskeletal anatomy and discuss biomechanics of movement including:

  • planes of motion
  • anatomical direction
  • types and actions of joints
  • muscular origin, insertion, and action
  • difference between deep stabilizers and global movers
  • antagonist vs. antagonist muscular engagement as it pertains to specific motion, weight, and gravitational pull
  • concentric vs. eccentric muscular engagement as it pertains to specific motion, weight, and gravitational pull

Posture Assessment
May 11, 2008

Review postural theory and learn to define postural deficiencies as defined by Florence Peterson Kendall and Elizabeth Kendall McCreary. Upon completion of this lecture/workshop, participants will be able to:

  • define neutral posture, define postural deviations
  • perform a postural assessment based upon the position of specific joints from lateral, posterior, and anterior viewpoints
  • understand the correlation between muscle length and muscle weakness/shortness
  • learn how to counterbalance postural deficiencies
